When I brought a light bulb into
the Sgobba Monument office one morning and asked them if they could
make it four feet tall and in granite, they paused for a minute,
looked at my bulb and said, "Yea, we can do that, no problem."
That was the beginning of a two year relationship with the Sgobba
family monument company. I had asked around trying to find
good stone carvers that would be able to create a light bulb out of
stone. Everyone I spoke to referred me to this family.
Their father use to carve by hand. The sons learned the craft
and business from him. When Kim died we collaborated
once again. I came up with the design concept and they turned
it into stone. |
